President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the Russians fired 11 missiles to attack the Trypilska TPP: the first seven were destroyed by Ukrainian air defense, and four more hit the power plant because they ran out of protective equipment

Zelenskyy said this in an interview with the American public broadcaster PBS.

Commenting on how the allies jointly defended Israel to repel the Iranian attack, the President of Ukraine said that this is "really a demonstration of what allies are not on paper, but in the sky." In his opinion, Israel would not have been able to defend itself against such a massive attack on its own.

Zelenskyy pointed out that "a lot of things that Ukraine lacks" were used then.

"I'll give you a very simple example - the Trypilska power station. 11 missiles were flying. We destroyed the first 7, and another 4 destroyed the TPP. Why? Because there were zero missiles. We have run out of missiles to defend it," the President emphasized.

  • On the night of April 11, Russia launched a massive air attack on Ukrainian territory. A total of 82 air strikes were launched. Ukrainian air defense forces destroyed 18 missiles and 39 attack drones.
  • As a result of the massive Russian attack, the Trypilska thermal power plant in Kyiv region was completely destroyed. Ukraine's Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said that the TPP would not have been destroyed by the Russians if the country had modern Patriot air defense systems.
