Ukrainian leaders call Russian attack on Kyiv 'terror,' urge partners to toughen sanctions on Moscow
On the night of July 10, Russia carried out a massive combined strike on the capital of Ukraine. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized the clear escalation of terror
He wrote about this on Telegram.
According to Zelenskyy, Russia launched 18 missiles at Ukraine, including ballistic missiles, and deployed about 400 attack drones, nearly 200 of which were Shaheds.
The president stated that the main target of the attack was Kyiv and the surrounding region. The Chernihiv, Sumy, Poltava, Kirovohrad, and Kharkiv regions were also attacked.
“This is a clear escalation of terror by Russia: hundreds of Shaheds every night, constant strikes, and massive attacks against Ukrainian cities. This means we need to accelerate our response. We must be faster with sanctions and increase pressure on Russia so they feel the consequences of their terror. Our partners also need to move faster with investments in weapons production and technology development," he said.
The president added that during his meetings with partners, particularly within the coalition of the willing, he would discuss additional funding for the production of interceptor drones and the supply of air defense systems for Ukraine.
Sybiha urges partners to strengthen sanctions against Russia
Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha stated that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin rejects any peace efforts and diplomacy in favor of terror and war crimes.
“I urge our partners to adopt both the U.S. Senate bill and the EU’s 18th sanctions package as soon as possible. It is not enough to simply watch as Russia terrorizes people in Ukraine. Action must be taken now to stop the financing of Russia’s war machine,” Sybiha was quoted as saying by the Foreign Ministry’s press service.
