Ukraine's Ambassador to France Vadym Omelchenko believes that President Emmanuel Macron's statement about the possible deployment of troops to Ukraine is the beginning of a process that will launch discussions in the countries

The European Pravda reports.

Omelchenko believes that Macron's statements reflect a deep understanding of the threat to European security. As an example, he cited the Ramstein format, where 50 countries help Ukraine in the war against Russia.

"If they really believe that we are defending not only ourselves but that we are defending Europe and European values, the stability of the European continent, then we must act. And what is Macron wrong about?" the ambassador added.

He believes that such statements are "the beginning of the process."

"I can assure you that these thoughts are in the European air. And the fact that Macron says that the dynamics of events cannot exclude any action is the beginning of the process," Omelchenko added.

The Ukrainian ambassador to France also recalled Macron's statements about some countries that had previously ruled out supplying Kyiv with first shells, then tanks, then long-range weapons and artillery.

"And now representatives of the same countries are seriously discussing long-range weapons. That is, everything is possible. And Ukraine has already overcome many challenges. This is the beginning of the process. Let's be optimistic, keep hope and confidence in ourselves and our partners," he concluded.

  • On February 26, about 20 European leaders met in Paris to discuss the threats posed by Russian President Vladimir Putin. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed them.
  • After the conference, French President Emmanuel Macron announced that sending Western ground troops to fight Russian aggression should not be ruled out in the future.
  • On February 26, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said that some NATO and EU member states were allegedly discussing the possibility of sending their troops to Ukraine after signing bilateral agreements with Kyiv.
