Norwegian Prime Minister urges allies to provide Ukraine with more air defenses
Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre called on allies to continue supporting Ukraine, in particular by providing it with more air defense systems
He said this at a panel discussion at the Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF) summit in Tallinn, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
"There are potentially more air defense assets, and we just need to come together to make it happen. So more concrete coordination between Europeans," Støre said.
In his opinion, the EU should maintain unity "and make it concrete."
The politician noted that Norway is increasing its efforts and will provide Ukraine with 3 billion euros in support next year.
"And that's right. The Scandinavian and Baltic countries are the leading donors after the United States. And we should be like that in both quality and quantity," he added.
Støre noted that everyone is currently waiting for the arrival of a new U.S. administration, "but that does not mean that we in Europe should just sit and wait."
"I think we also need to think about how we position ourselves, how we can better coordinate our actions," the Norwegian prime minister said.
- On December 17, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine needs an additional 12-15 air defense systems, in addition to those promised at the NATO summit in Washington.
