Ukraine can win, but we need more weapons - Ukrainian Defence Minister Umerov
Ukrainian Defence Minister Rustem Umerov says Ukraine has a plan in the Russian-Ukrainian war, but needs more weapons from its allies
He said this in an interview with Fox News.
Answering the host's question whether he believes the war will ever end, Rustem Umerov said that "we are capable and can win".
"We have a plan, and we are voicing out that we need more weapons. And hesitation to provide us weapons, hesitation to provide us permissions and lifting bands – this takes time. The time is very crucial but we're able and capable of doing it," the minister stressed.
In addition, he commented on American fears that permission for strikes on Russia could "escalate" the war: "Russia has already escalated it. They don't focus on the people. So they strike the hospitals, they strike civilian places. What we want (is - ed) to protect people... So we want to target only military targets."
Umerov also added that Ukraine needs more air defence and more weapons to protect its citizens.
- Newly appointed British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said at the NATO Summit in Washington that Ukraine could use Storm Shadow missiles to strike Russia.
