War will end in 2024 if Western partners make one decision - analyst Horbach
If Western partners don't prohibit Ukraine from hitting targets on Russian territory with precision long-range weapons, 2024 could be a turning point in the war
Volodymyr Horbach, political analyst at the Institute for Euro-Atlantic Cooperation, expert on Ukraine's foreign and domestic policy, said this on Espreso TV.
"The Western world must realize and understand that only parity and the ability to respond will stop the Russians from their genocidal war and the destruction of Ukraine's civilian infrastructure. I think that 2024 may be a turning point in the war, when the American, British and other Western partners of Ukraine will make the appropriate decision," he said.
According to him, if this decision is made at the political level, the war will end this year.
"The air strikes by the Russian Federation on the civilian infrastructure of Ukraine are a prerequisite for arming Ukraine with similar weapons," Horbach said.
In his opinion, today Western partners are held back by fear of Russia. They are afraid of some kind of response.
"There could also be backroom agreements on the non-use of such weapons against Russia. However, the two positions can and should be reconsidered. All the prerequisites for this have been in place for a long time. All that is missing is the political will of our Western partners," the political analyst added.
- The day before, Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke about long-range weapons from partners that destroyed 12 aircraft at a time and 26 helicopters per day.
