US allocates $824 million to support Ukraine's energy sector
The United States is providing $824 million to support Ukraine's energy infrastructure
The US Special Representative for Ukraine's Economic Recovery, Penny Pritzker, announced this at a conference on Ukraine's recovery in Berlin, Ukrinform reports.
"Given the situation in the energy sector, which is really very difficult, I am announcing here that the United States is providing $824 million to support Ukraine's energy infrastructure," she said.
Pritzker assured that the international community does not forget about the war in Ukraine and said that the United States understands how serious the situation is. That is why her country, together with its allies, is working to speed up assistance to Kyiv in the military, economic and energy sectors.
"The international community is not losing interest in what is happening in Ukraine. Putin occupies a significant place in the minds of many. The United States is an example of this. In the vote that took place just last month on the supplemental agreement, 70% of our Congress, both houses, supported this supplemental package. This is more than $60 billion in aid for Ukraine. This is not only a demonstration of our support, but also a sign of how the American people feel," she said.
Pritzker also stressed that the United States is currently working with Ukraine to provide $7.8 billion in budget support and $1.5 billion for the economic recovery of our country.
"All these efforts, not only from the United States, but from all our allies, are aimed at economic, financial and energy support for Ukraine. Much depends on Ukraine continuing to implement reforms, which is what the Ukrainian authorities are doing now. We know that this is necessary to prepare for EU membership. The urgent task is to tackle corruption, customs irregularities and the grey market. Ukraine is also doing this because 8 out of 10 of its citizens want to see these very tough steps," she added.
