Ukrainian military: Russian forces attempting to reclaim lost positions around Vovchansk
After losing control of the aggregate plant in Vovchansk, the Russian troops continue their information and military campaigns
Vitalii Sarantsev, the spokesman for the Kharkiv troop grouping, stated this on Espreso TV.
"The occupying Russian forces will not back down. They are still trying to regain lost ground and continue their offensive, not only around the aggregate plant but also in Vovchansk and nearby settlements. The Russians are not abandoning their intentions. They are currently reorganizing their assault groups, rearming, strengthening their communication systems, and conducting aerial reconnaissance. From this, we can conclude that they will continue to launch assaults in one direction or another,” he said.
The loss of the aggregate plant in Vovchansk was a significant blow for the Russians, even though they refuse to acknowledge their defeat, says Sarantsev.
“First and foremost, it was both a reputational and tactical loss for them. However, they are unwilling to accept this defeat. Russian forces are trying to downplay it as much as possible, fabricating victories without any real evidence. Since they lost control of the plant, fake narratives have emerged almost daily. Initially, the Russians denied losing the facility, then they claimed it was targeted by a super-powered bomb. Now, they’re back to spreading the falsehood that they’ve regained control of the plant,” he added.
- On September 24, Ukraine’s military intelligence units fully liberated the aggregate plant in Vovchansk and cleared out all Russian forces from the site.
- On September 27, the intelligence noted that reclaiming the plant reduced the area under enemy control and created a potential base for further offensives aimed at fully liberating Vovchansk.
- Later, Vitalii Sarantsev, the spokesperson for the Kharkiv troop grouping reported that the Russians were using various weapons to attack the aggregate plant in Vovchansk.
- On October 7, Russian state media claimed that had raised a Russian flag at the plant. However, Vitalii Sarantsev clarified that Russian forces had not recaptured the plant and that the video being shared on Russian social media was old.
