Ukrainian forces shoot down 8 Russian cruise missiles in 30 seconds with IRIS-T
Using a German-supplied IRIS-T system, Ukrainian forces destroyed eight Russian missiles in 30 seconds, protecting critical infrastructure
The Ukrainian Air Force reported the information.
The commander of a launch battery from the West Air Command said their unit has a tradition of marking down enemy kills on the IRIS-T launcher. One launcher now bears eight marks - earned in just 30 seconds during a single Russian missile attack.
The military explained that the IRIS-T launcher is equipped with eight anti-aircraft guided missiles. In 30 seconds, the soldiers completely discharged it and prevented damage to the critical infrastructure facility.
"We destroyed all targets within 30 seconds. Russian cruise missiles literally came into the target area one by one, and we immediately captured them as targets and fired at them. We used one of our anti-aircraft guided missiles for each target. We worked with 100 percent accuracy. The IRIS-T system can simultaneously fire at many targets. And this allows us to successfully repel Russian massive missile attacks," explained the Air Force fighter.
- On April 11, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius announced at a meeting in the Ramstein format the delivery of 4 IRIS-T air defense systems to Ukraine, along with 300 missiles for them and 30 missiles for Patriot systems.
