Ukraine's Air Force confirms destruction of another bridge in Russia's Kursk region
On Saturday, August 17, 2024, Ukrainian forces inflicted severe damage on a road bridge over the Seym River in the village of Zvannoye, Glushkovsky district, Kursk region, Russia
The Commander of Ukraine's Air Force, Mykola Oleshchuk, shared the information.
“Kursk direction. One more bridge down! Air Force aviation continues to deprive the enemy of logistical capabilities with precision air strikes, which significantly affects the course of hostilities!” he wrote.
Oleshchuk thanked the pilots “for their professionalism and results.”
Ukrainian military journalist Andriy Tsaplienko was the first to report on the strike in the early hours of August 18.
"One less bridge over the Seym River in Zvannoye," he remarked.
Tsaplienko stressed, "The Ukrainian Armed Forces effectively cut off a significant part of the Kursk region."
A Ukrainian Telegram channel reports that the bridge in Zvannoye (coordinates: 51.38798968216666, 34.553952815437725) is "almost destroyed."
The OSINT community Mortis AEterna also mentions the strike on the bridge.
According to the map, only one of the three bridges across the Seym River in the active area of Ukrainian forces in southern Kursk remains intact — in the village of Karizh. The bridge in Glushkovo had already been rendered completely inoperative, and now the Zvannoye bridge has been damaged.
As a result, Russian military units stationed on the southern bank of the Seym, if any remain, will find it impossible to retreat to the opposite bank.
- On August 17, Tsaplienko reported the entry of Ukrainian Defense Forces into Korenevo, a district center in the Kursk region.
