Ukrainian forces repel 60 Russian attacks, most of them in Bakhmut, Novopavlivka sectors

Russian attacks across Ukraine

During the day, Russia launched 7 missile strikes, 73 airstrikes, and 81 attacks with multiple launch rocket systems at the Ukrainian troops’ positions and populated areas. Unfortunately, Russian terrorist attacks have resulted in civilian casualties and injuries. Multi-storey and private houses, as well as other infrastructure facilities, were destroyed and damaged.

Frontline situation 

Near the state Ukrainian border with Russia and Belarus, the situation hasn't changed significantly, and no enemy offensive groups have been detected. Certain units of the Belarusian Armed Forces are performing tasks in the areas bordering Ukraine.

At the same time, the Russian army continued shelling the entire borderline with mortars and artillery: over 20 settlements across the Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions were attacked. 

In the Kupyansk sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled two enemy attacks near Kyslivka, Kharkiv region, and Andriivka, Luhansk region. About 15 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Lyman sector, Ukrainian troops repelled three enemy attacks near Terny, Donetsk region, where the Russian army, with the support of aviation, tried to break through the Ukrainian defense. Artillery and mortar shelling affected more than 10 settlements.

In the Bakhmut sector, Ukrainian troops repelled 25 attacks in the areas of Bilohorivka, Luhansk region; Verkhnekamianske, Rozdolivka, Chasiv Yar, Klishchiivka, and Andriivka, Donetsk region, where the Russian forces, with the support of aviation, tried to improve the tactical situation. More than 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Avdiivka sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled six attacks near Umanske, Donetsk region, where the Russians tried to drive Ukrainian units out of their positions. About 10 localities came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Novopavlivka sector, the Ukrainian Defense Forces are holding back the Russians in the areas of Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Novomykhailivka, east of Vodiane, and Urozhaine, where the Russian army, supported by aviation, tried to break through the Ukrainian defense 20 times. More than 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Orikhiv sector, the Russian army, with the support of aviation, attacked the Ukrainian positions 3 times near Staromaiorske in the Donetsk region and Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region. About 20 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Kherson sector, Russia does not abandon its intention to drive Ukrainian units from their footholds on the left bank of the Dnipro River. Thus, during the day, one attack was made on the positions of Ukrainian troops near the village of Krynky in the Kherson region. More than 15 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.

Ukrainian strikes against Russian military positions 

Over the day, Ukrainian aviation struck 15 Russian military positions and 2 enemy anti-aircraft missile systems.

The missile troops destroyed a manpower concentration area and 3 air defense facilities.

• Over the past day, April 8, 56 combat engagements took place at the front. Ukrainian defenders repelled a series of attacks by Russian troops in six key areas and killed 850 soldiers.
