Ukrainian forces repel 38 Russian attacks in Avdiivka sector - General Staff

The Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff reported this on February 5.

Russian attacks across Ukraine

During the day, Russia launched 7 missile strikes, 25 airstrikes, and 52 attacks with multiple launch rocket systems at the Ukrainian troops’ positions and populated areas. Unfortunately, Russian terrorist attacks resulted in civilian casualties. Residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed and damaged.

Frontline situation 

Near the state Ukrainian border with Russia and Belarus, the situation hasn't changed significantly, and no enemy offensive groups have been detected. Certain units of the Belarusian Armed Forces are performing tasks in the areas bordering Ukraine.

At the same time, the Russian army continued shelling the entire borderline with mortars and artillery: over 25 settlements across the Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions were attacked. 

In the Kupyansk sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled 8 attacks near Synkivka, Kharkiv region, where the Russian army tried to break through the Ukrainian army's defense. About 15 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Lyman sector, the Ukrainian troops repelled 15 attacks near Bilohorivka in the  Luhansk region and Yampolivka, Terny, Torske, Hryhorivka in the Donetsk region. About 15 localities suffered from artillery and mortar attacks.

In the Bakhmut sector, Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled 8 attacks in the vicinity of Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, and Klishchiivka in the Donetsk region. More than 10 localities came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Avdiivka sector, the Ukrainian army repelled 24 Russian attacks in the area of Novobakhmutivka, Avdiivka and another 14 attacks near Pervomaiske and Nevelske in the Donetsk region. More than 15 localities came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Marinka sector, the Ukrainian Defense Forces are holding back the enemy near Heorhiivka and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region. About 5 localities came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Shakhtarsk sector, Russia did not conduct any assault operations. About 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Zaporizhzhia sector, the Defense Forces repelled two attacks near Robotyne, where the Russian army unsuccessfully tried to break through the Ukrainian defense. Artillery and mortar attacks targeted 20 localities.

In the Kherson sector, Russia does not abandon its intention to drive Ukrainian units from their footholds on the left bank of the Dnipro River. About 3 localities came under Russian fire.

Ukrainian strikes against Russian military positions 

During the day, missile troops struck one personnel concentration area, two command posts, and two munitions depots.

• Over the last day, February 4, 78 combat engagements took place at the front. The Ukrainian Defense Forces managed to repel most of the Russian army's attacks in the Avdiivka sector. Meanwhile, the total losses of the Russian military reached almost 390,000.
