Ukrainian forces reclaimed 115 positions, hit 62 targets on Russian territory in April, Syrskyi reports
Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi held a comprehensive meeting to review the performance of Ukraine's Armed Forces in April 2025. Over the month, Ukrainian defenders recaptured 115 positions and struck 62 targets on Russian territory using DeepStrike systems
Commander-in-Chief reported the information on Telegram.
"It was yet another difficult month of the ongoing war, which has lasted a total of 11 years. However, we maintained the stability of our defense, avoided critical losses, and prevented Russian breakthroughs. Our main efforts are focused on deterring the Russian aggressor in the most threatening directions, primarily Sumy, Kursk, Pokrovsk, and Novopavlivka. At the same time, we are using an active defense tactic: as a result of these actions, our troops reclaimed a total of 115 positions over the month," Oleksandr Syrskyi noted.
He also emphasized the active role of Ukrainian artillery, aviation, unmanned systems, and other components of the comprehensive fire strike approach.
"Using DeepStrike systems, 62 targets were hit on Russian territory in April – we are destroying military facilities and undermining the aggressor’s defense industry capabilities," the Commander-in-Chief stressed.
According to Syrskyi, during April, there was an increase in the use of UAVs, as well as optimization of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ command system and enhanced personnel training.
"We continue to scale up units to brigades with a strengthened UAV component. We are also completing the staffing of priority assault regiments. The transition to a corps-based system is ongoing: new army corps and the Airborne Forces Corps have been established, and their staffing is being completed with an emphasis on centralized training and combat experience," Syrskyi reported.
- On May 1, delayed-action cluster munitions, likely scattered during a nighttime Russian drone attack, exploded in the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv.
