Lingering cluster munitions from Russian drone explode in Kyiv suburb, injuring woman
On May 1, delayed-action cluster munitions, likely scattered during a nighttime Russian drone attack, exploded in the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv
Oleksandr Popovtsev, head of the Shevchenkivskyi District Administration, reported the information.
According to him, delayed cluster munitions exploded in Bortnychi and were likely scattered during the night’s drone strike.
"I urge all residents to be extremely careful! If possible, stay in safe places, preferably in shelters or basements," he added.
Later, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed that a woman was injured. He said the explosive part of the downed drone detonated with a delay.
Tymur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, said around 10 explosions were recorded in the nearby forest park. There was also a blast on the roof of a residential building, which caused partial damage.
"Sappers, rescuers, and medics are working at the scene. Police teams are securing the area and stopping unauthorized access. It’s likely that these are cluster munitions dropped from Russian drones, but we’ll be able to confirm only after a special examination of the explosive fragments," Tkachenko wrote.
Meanwhile, the Kyiv City State Administration warned people not to touch unfamiliar objects on the ground.
"Unidentified items left behind after enemy attacks could be explosives," the administration added.
- On the evening of Wednesday, April 30, Russian forces launched drone strikes from several directions. There are reports of dead and injured in Odesa as a result of the attack.
