Vladyslav Voloshyn, a spokesman for the Southern Defense Forces, said this, Sky News reports.
According to the speaker, the attacks could create a new pressure point for Ukrainian defenders, who are already on the back foot in the east. However, it is currently unclear whether this will be one large-scale Russian offensive or separate assaults, Voloshyn added.
"Assaults could begin very soon; we're not even talking about weeks—we expect it could happen any day," Voloshyn said.
He added that Russian forces in this area significantly outnumber the Ukrainian troops.
- As of November 11, the Russian army was storming Ukrainian positions near Kurakhove in the Donetsk region from the north, south, and east. Analysts say the situation is deteriorating.
