Ukrainian forces repel 22 attacks in Avdiivka sector. Russian army tries to break through Ukrainian defense 19 times in Novopavlivka direction

This is stated in the evening report of the General Staff for March 12.

Russian attacks across Ukraine

Over the last day, Russia launched 9 missile and 73 air strikes, fired 72 times from multiple launch rocket systems at the positions of Ukrainian troops and populated areas. Unfortunately, Russian terrorist attacks resulted in civilian casualties. Multi-storey and private houses, as well as other civilian infrastructure facilities, were destroyed and damaged.

Frontline situation

Near the state Ukrainian border with Russia and Belarus, the situation hasn't changed significantly, and no enemy offensive groups have been detected.

At the same time, the Russian army continued shelling the entire borderline with mortars and artillery: over 25 settlements across the Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions were attacked. 

In the Kupyansk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled four Russian attacks near the towns of Synkivka and Tabaivka in Kharkiv region, where the enemy unsuccessfully tried to force Ukrainian units out of their positions. Russia carried out air strikes near the settlements of Kupyansk and Kivsharivka in the Kharkiv region. More than 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian troops repelled six Russian attacks near Bilohorivka, Luhansk region, and Terny, Donetsk region, where the enemy, with the support of aviation, tried to break through the defenses of Ukrainian troops. The Russian forces also carried out air strikes in the areas of Serebryanka forestry in Luhansk region and near the settlements of Serebryanka, Proletarske, Vyymka, Rozdolivka in Donetsk region. Artillery and mortar shelling affected about 10 localities.

In the Bakhmut direction, the Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled six Russian enemy attacks in the areas east of Chasiv Yar, Ivanivske and Klishchiivka in Donetsk region, where the enemy was trying to improve its tactical position. Russian enemy launched air strikes near the settlements of Bohdanivka and Druzhba in Donetsk region. Also, about 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Mykolayivka, Vasyukivka, Bohdanivka in Donetsk region.

In the Avdiivka direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 22 Russian attacks in the areas of Berdychi, Orlivka, Tonenke and Pervomaiske in Donetsk region. Russian enemy carried out air strikes near the towns of Oleksandropil, Novokalynove, Novobakhmutivka and Umanske in the Donetsk region. About 15 localities came under artillery and mortar fire, including Progres, Vovche, Zhelanne in Donetsk region.

In the Novopavlivka direction, the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to hold back Russian enemy in the areas of Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka and Novomykhailivka in Donetsk region, where Russia, supported by aviation, tried to break through the defenses of Ukrainian troops 19 times. Russia also launched an air strike near the village of Urozhayne in Donetsk region. About 20 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Orikhiv direction, Russia, with the support of aviation, unsuccessfully attacked the positions of Ukrainian defenders 6 times near Staromayorske in Donetsk region, west of Verbove and Robotyne in Zaporizhzhia region. Russia carried out an air strike near Malynivka, Zaporizhzhia region. About 20 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Malynivka, Huliaipole, Mala Tokmachka in Zaporizhzhia region.

In the Kherson direction, the Russian enemy does not give up its intention to drive Ukrainian units from their footholds on the left bank of the Dnipro River. Thus, during the day, the enemy carried out 3 unsuccessful assault operations on the positions of Ukrainian defenders. More than 15 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including the city of Kherson and Kreschenivka, Dudchany, Beryslav, Stanislav in Kherson region.

Ukrainian strikes against Russian military positions

Over the day, Ukrainian aviation struck 9 areas where Russian personnel, weapons and military equipment were concentrated.

Missile troops struck an area of concentration of personnel, an artillery unit and two Russian air defense systems.

• On March 11, 72 combat engagements took place at the frontline. Russia attempted to attack in 6 directions, but the Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled most of the enemy attacks and neutralized another 910 Russian servicemen.
