Ukrainian army repels 28 Russian attacks in five directions - General Staff

The Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff reported this on February 24.

Russian attacks across Ukraine

Over the last day, Russia launched 7 missile strikes, 54 airstrikes, and 77 attacks with multiple launch rocket systems at the Ukrainian troops’ positions and localities.

Frontline situation 

There were 69 combat engagements over the last day. The operational situation in eastern and southern Ukraine remains difficult.

Near the state Ukrainian border with Russia and Belarus, the situation hasn't changed significantly, and no enemy offensive groups have been detected. Certain units of the Belarusian Armed Forces are performing tasks in the areas bordering Ukraine.

At the same time, the Russian army continued shelling the entire borderline with mortars and artillery: over 30 settlements across the Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions were attacked. 

In the Kupyansk sector, Russia did not conduct any offensive (assault) actions. About 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Lyman sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled one Russian attack near Terny, Donetsk region, where the Russian army tried to break through the Ukrainian defense. More than 10 localities suffered from enemy artillery and mortar attacks.

In the Bakhmut sector, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 11 attacks in the areas of Ivanivske, Klishchiivka, and Andriivka in the Donetsk region, where the Russian army was trying to improve its tactical position. More than 10 localities came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Avdiivka sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled 11 enemy attacks in the areas of Lastochkyno, Sievierne, Pervomaiske, and Nevelske in the Donetsk region. About 20 localities came under Russian artillery and mortar fire.

In the Marinka sector, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to hold back the Russian troops near Novomykhailivka, Donetsk region, where they tried to break through the Ukrainian defense 23 times. About 5 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Novopavlivka sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled one enemy attack in the area south of Zolota Nyva in the Donetsk region. About 10 localities came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Zaporizhzhia sector, the Defense Forces repelled four Russian attacks near Robotyne, Zaporizhzhia region. More than 10 localities came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Kherson sector, Russia does not abandon its intention to drive Ukrainian units from their footholds on the left bank of the Dnipro. Thus, two attempts to storm the positions of the Ukrainian troops were made over the last day. About 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.

Ukrainian strikes against Russian military positions 

Over the course of the day, Ukrainian aviation struck at 13 manpower concentration areas.

The missile troops destroyed 1 enemy radar station.

• There were 84 combat engagements at the front over the last day. The Defense Forces repelled 82 Russian attacks in 7 directions. Meanwhile, the Russian army has lost more than 409,000 soldiers in the two years of the full-scale invasion.
