Ukrainian army repels 23 Russian attacks in Avdiivka sector over the day - General Staff

Over the last day, April 26, 79 combat engagements took place in the frontline. Russia tried to break through Ukrainian defences 12 times in the Novopavlivka sector

Russian attacks across Ukraine

Over the past day, Russia launched 1 missile and 67 air strikes, fired 54 times from multiple launch rocket systems at the positions of Ukrainian troops and settlements.

Frontline situation 


Near the state Ukrainian border with Belarus, the situation hasn't changed significantly, and no enemy offensive groups have been detected.

At the same time, the Russian army continued shelling the entire borderline with mortars and artillery: over 20 settlements across the Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions were attacked. 

In the Kupyansk sector, Ukrainian troops repelled seven attacks near Kyslivka and Berestove in Kharkiv region and Stelmakhivka in Luhansk region. Russian enemy conducted air strikes near Pishchane and Hlushkivka in Kharkiv region. About 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Stepova Novoselivka in Kharkiv region.

In the Lyman sector, Ukrainian defence forces repelled nine attacks in the area of Serebryanske forestry in Luhansk region; Terny and south of Zarichne in Donetsk region. Artillery and mortar shelling affected more than 10 localities, including Makiivka in Luhansk region; Terny, Yampolivka, Torske in Donetsk region.

In the Bakhmut sector, Ukrainian troops repelled eight attacks in the areas of Bilohorivka, Luhansk region; Vyymka, Spirne and Ivanivske, Donetsk region, where Russian enemy was trying to improve its tactical position. The enemy also conducted air strikes near Chasiv Yar, Donetsk region. More than 10 localities came under artillery and mortar fire, including Hryhorivka, Kalynivka and Klishchiivka in the Donetsk region.

In the Avdiivka sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled 23 attacks in the areas of Arkhangelske, Keramik, Ocheretine, Semenivka, Umanske and Kalynove in Donetsk Oblast, where Russia, supported by aviation, tried to force our units out of their positions. The enemy also launched air strikes near Novobakhmutivka and Memryk in Donetsk Oblast. More than 10 localities came under artillery and mortar fire, including Keramik, Arkhangelske and Solovyove in Donetsk region.

In the Novopavlivsk sector, the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to hold back Russian enemy in the areas of Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Prechystivka and Urozhayne in Donetsk region, where Russia, supported by aviation, tried to break through the defences of Ukrainian troops 12 times. The enemy conducted air strikes near the settlements of Paraskoviivka and Kostiantynivka in Donetsk region. More than 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka and Vuhledar in the Donetsk region.

In the Orikhiv sector, Russia, with the support of aviation, attacked the positions of Ukrainian defenders 3 times near Staromayorske, Donetsk region, and Robotyne, Zaporizhzhia region. About 20 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Chervone, Bilohiria and Kamianske in Zaporizhzhia region.

In the Kherson sector, Russia does not abandon its intention to push Ukrainian troops from their footholds on the left bank of the Dnipro River. Thus, during the day, with the support of aviation, Russia carried out 3 unsuccessful attacks on the positions of Ukrainian troops near the village of Krynky, Kherson region. Russia also conducted an air strike near Tomaryne, Kherson region. About 20 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Tyahynka, Ivanivka, Novotyahynka, Bilozerka, Veletynske, Kizomys, Tokarivka in the Kherson region.

Ukrainian strikes against Russian military positions 

Over the day, Ukrainian aviation struck 11 manpower concentration areas.

Missile troops struck 2 areas of concentration of personnel, 1 radar station, 3 air defence facilities, 1 electronic warfare station, and 1 enemy logistics depot.

Nazar Voloshyn, spokesman for the Khortytsia operational and strategic grouping, said that the Russian army is trying to seize settlements near Chasiv Yar to encircle it.
