Ukrainian air defense destroys Russian missile and 50 Shaheds in overnight attack

Mykola Oleshchuk, the commander of Ukrainian Air Force, reported the information.
According to the report, last night, Russian troops attacked Ukraine with two Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles from Voronezh region, a Kh-59/Kh-69 guided missile from the airspace of Kursk region, and 69 Shahed-type attack UAVs launched from Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Yeysk, and Kursk.
A total of 72 Russian air targets were detected by Ukrainian Air Force radars.
Ukrainian aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units of the Air Force and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled the Russian air attack.
The defenders of the sky managed to shoot down 51 Russian air targets, including one Kh-59/kh-69 missile and 50 Shaheds, in Khmelnytskyi, Poltava, Cherkasy, Kyiv, Vinnytsia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Dnipro, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Kherson, Donetsk, Kirovohrad, Sumy and Chernihiv regions.
The Air Force added that another 16 Russian UAVs were lost locally. They probably fell under the influence of electronic countermeasures.
Oleshchuk also noted that last night a Russian attack drone crossed the state border with Belarus in the Chernihiv region, and another Russian drone returned to Belgorod region.
- Since the evening of August 20, the Russian army has been launching Shahed attack drones on Ukrainian territory from the south. Air defense systems have been engaged in the Kyiv and Khmelnytskyi regions.
