Ukraine to increase production of drones, long-range weapons, ballistic missiles in 2025 - Defense Minister
Defense Minister Rustem Umerov says that next year Ukraine plans to increase funding for the production of drones, long-range weapons, and ballistic missiles
He said this during a speech at the International Defense Industries Forum (DFNC2) in Kyiv, the press service of the Ministry of Defense reports.
According to Umerov, Ukraine has already invested $4 billion in industrial development and plans to increase funding in 2025.
“Our priority is to develop domestic drones and long-range weapons, including ballistic missiles,” the minister emphasized.
He emphasized that the Ministry of Defense is actively working to attract foreign partners to establish joint ventures to develop the defense industry. In particular, important elements of cooperation are the conclusion of multi-year contracts for the production, supply and maintenance of weapons, which will meet the needs of the Ukrainian Defense Forces in the long term.
“Ukraine's defense industry has significantly increased its capabilities thanks to the support of our allies and last year's agreements made at the same DFNC2 forum. Today's new agreements and partnerships are a confirmation that we are on the right path to victory,” said Herman Smetanin, head of the Ministry of Strategic Industries.
It is noted that more than 280 companies took part in this year's DFNC2 forum. During the event, new important agreements were signed that will strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities.
Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha noted that one of Ukraine's priorities is to develop its own defense sector by strengthening international cooperation and attracting foreign investment. He emphasized that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs continues this work together with the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Strategic Industries.
