Ukraine seeks foreign military presence in air and sea, talks underway
Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Heorhii Tykhyi, emphasized the need for the presence of foreign military forces in Ukraine’s maritime and airspace and added that relevant negotiations have already begun
This was reported by New Voice, citing its correspondent.
"In our view, it is equally possible to discuss air security, protection, and the closure of Ukrainian airspace, including patrols by our allies and partners using their aircraft. If we are already talking about a possible military presence in Ukraine, this presence may include ground, air, and maritime components," Tykhyi stated.
He also noted that Ukraine’s airspace is no less important and that a ground contingent alone would be insufficient. "Russia’s current air dominance allows it to prevail on the battlefield and continue terrorizing Ukrainian cities, communities, and villages. This is a key factor. That is why we are expanding the scope of this discussion," he explained.
According to the ministry spokesperson, Ukraine is preparing for important negotiations with its partners to strengthen support in the war. "A broad discussion on this matter is underway, and we are actively participating in it," he added.
The negotiations will take place on March 6 at a special European Council summit.
