Ukraine outlines "red lines" for peace negotiations
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha outlined Kyiv's red lines for any potential negotiations, emphasizing territorial integrity and sovereignty
He discussed this in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.
"I don’t like the term (red lines - ed.)," Sybiha stated. "There are fundamental principles that are non-negotiable and untouchable. The first is Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. Ukraine will never recognize the occupied territories."
He also stressed that no country has the right to veto the Ukrainian people’s choices, including membership in organizations like the EU or NATO.
"Thirdly, there can be no restrictions on Ukraine’s defense capabilities, no limits on the strength of our army or our military potential. These are fundamental principles that our partners are well aware of. Russia must be held accountable. All of these elements are part of a comprehensive peace," said the head of Ukraine’s diplomatic service.
He also emphasized that these principles are outlined in Ukraine’s "peace formula" and shape the country's stance on the international stage.
At the same time, Sybiha reaffirmed Kyiv’s core principles: "Nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine" and "Nothing about Europe without Europe."
