Ukraine has appealed to the UN Security Council to urgently convene a meeting over the massive Russian attack on June 17, which caused numerous casualties among the civilian population
This was reported to Ukrinform by Ukraine's Permanent Representative to the UN Andriy Melnyk.
“I have just signed a letter to the President of the UN Security Council requesting that a meeting of the Security Council be convened as soon as possible in connection with the escalation of Russia's missile terror against the civilian population of Ukraine,” he said.
According to him, Russia's actions are not only war crimes but also crimes against humanity, which require decisive action from the international community.
On Tuesday, he will meet with the head of the Security Council to discuss further steps, expressing hope for a tough response from the Council to the Kremlin's actions.
“I hope that the members of the Security Council will respond harshly to Russia's criminal actions. It is time to put an end to the Kremlin's impunity,” Melnyk said.
