Ukraine, Romania sign security agreement
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and President of Romania Klaus Iohannis signed an agreement on security cooperation in Washington, DC
This was reported on the website of the Ukrainian President's Office.
Under the agreement, Romania will supply a Patriot system to Ukraine and facilitate the fastest possible transit of all necessary equipment through its territory to Ukraine.
"A key feature of this agreement is specific points of cooperation to strengthen security in the Black Sea region. Romania will assist Ukraine in demining the Black Sea and provide support through EU and NATO tools," the statement said.
In addition, Bucharest, together with its partners, will help the F-16 training centre to train Ukrainian pilots, thus contributing to the coalition's air force capabilities.
Certain blocks of the document relate to intelligence and counterintelligence, cybersecurity, information security, humanitarian demining, sanctions, and the restoration and reconstruction of Ukraine.
The agreement also sets out a mechanism for a 24-hour emergency response in the event of repeated Russian aggression against Ukraine or a significant escalation.
