Trump's messaging could force Putin into diplomacy, says Zelenskyy
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that U.S. President-elect Donald Trump could compel Russian leader Vladimir Putin to engage in diplomacy
Zelenskyy made this statement during an interview with Polish media.
"Trump really wants to end the war; these are his messages, both public and private, to be honest. He is a leader capable of pressuring Russia. I am confident that Russia fears America and China and fears a united Europe," the president said when asked whether there is a chance to end the war in 2025.
According to Zelenskyy, the European army stands no chance without Ukraine’s military. He also believes the EU must boost its resources despite aiding Ukraine.
"Trump can force [Putin]. We need to negotiate with Trump for specific security guarantees for Ukraine, and he must compel Putin to diplomacy to end this war. I believe Trump is capable and, God willing, he will be able to offer Ukraine real security guarantees," Zelenskyy added.
