Trump won't be able to fully withdraw U.S. troops from Europe — politician
Polish politician and public figure Mirosław Czech believes that the Trump administration will not be able to fully withdraw American troops from Europe due to internal resistance within the United States
He shared this opinion on Espreso TV.
“There is indeed a crisis in U.S.-Europe relations. Everyone understands that Article 5 of the NATO charter is in question, especially after Trump's call with Putin, the Munich Conference, and the U.S. vote at the UN. Trump could even claim that the Baltic states and Poland are too far away. However, I believe that any crisis simply brings about a new reality,” Czech explained.
The politician is convinced that Trump will not be able to fully withdraw U.S. troops from Europe.
“The key question now is whether there is a way out of this crisis in Europe. Of course, there is. Europe is not defenseless. Elements of the U.S. military presence in Europe will remain. Even Trump will not be able to completely withdraw American troops because the resistance within the U.S. will be too strong, and he simply won’t be allowed to do so. He may reduce their presence, but a full withdrawal is impossible. Now, Europe’s major powers, led by the United Kingdom—a long-standing U.S. ally—are stepping up. They remain active both in Europe and the Middle East,” he added.
