Trump says neither Ukraine nor Russia 'have the cards' for negotiations
US President Donald Trump stated that neither the Ukrainian nor the Russian side "have the cards" for negotiations. He insists on "making a deal and stopping the killings"
This was reported by Forbes Breaking News .
"You know, I said that they (Ukraine – ed.) don’t have the cards. Nobody really has the cards. Russia doesn’t have the cards. What you need to do is make a deal and stop the killings. This is a senseless war, and we’re going to stop it," Trump said while speaking with journalists.
He expressed hope that during negotiations between the Ukrainian and American delegations in Saudi Arabia this week, a "good result" could be achieved.
"I think we will have a good result in Saudi Arabia. I believe that some very important things may happen this week," he said.
The US president also stated that Ukraine is expected to sign a minerals agreement with the United States. Trump added that the US is considering lifting the pause on providing Ukraine with intelligence data.
Earlier, Trump suggested that negotiating with Moscow would be easier than with Kyiv to reach a final resolution of the war, arguing that Putin "holds all the cards."
What is known about the talks in Saudi Arabia
Previously, Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed his visit to Saudi Arabia and the negotiations between the Ukrainian and US delegations.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Heorhii Tykhyi stated that in Saudi Arabia, the Ukrainian and American delegations will discuss bilateral relations, strategic partnership, and the path to peace.
US officials stated that the Ukrainian leadership intends to "move forward" with negotiating a ceasefire with Russia and plans to use the meeting in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, March 11, to assess whether Ukraine is ready to make material concessions to Russia to end the war.
On March 10, the Ukrainian delegation, along with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, arrived in Saudi Arabia for negotiations.
