Trump calls Russian strikes on Kyiv 'not necessary', urges peace deal

U.S. President Donald Trump has reacted to the Russian strikes on Kyiv on April 24, calling them bad-timed and expressing his dissatisfaction

Trump posted the statement on his social network, TruthSocial.

According to the U.S. president, Russia’s strikes on the Ukrainian capital are very bad-timed and unnecessary. Trump said that he is not happy about the Russian strikes on Kyiv.

“Vladimir, stop! 5,000 soldiers a week are dying. Let’s get the peace deal done!” Trump wrote.

  • On the night of April 24, Russia attacked Ukraine with drones and missiles. In Kyiv, people died as a result of the attack, and fires broke out in several districts of the city. There is destruction in the region. 
  • President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that if Russia is ready for a ceasefire, then it is Russia that should immediately stop strikes throughout Ukraine.
  •  Ukrainian MP Yuliia Sirko (Klymenko) stated that the lack of a clear Ukrainian position and concrete plans has led the United States to pressure Ukraine into accepting peace on terms that suit Washington.
