South Korea to fund Ukraine's digital government transformation with $4.76 million
South Korea will allocate $4.76 million to support the digital transformation of the Ukrainian government. The funds will be directed towards a project that will last until 2027
The agreement was signed on April 14 in Kyiv by representatives of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), according to Ukraine's Ministry of Digital Transformation.
The goal of the three-year project is to make government operations more efficient, transparent, and user-friendly for civil servants. The initiative will be implemented by the Ministry of Digital Transformation, UNDP, and the Secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers.
"The goal of the Ministry is to simplify interaction with the state as much as possible — both for citizens and those providing these services. We are grateful to the Republic of Korea for supporting this important initiative, which will help make the public sector more effective," commented Digital Transformation Minister Mykhailo Fedorov.
The project includes modernizing digital project management tools in ministries and developing e-services for civil servants. Part of the funding will also go toward training public employees in digital skills to help them effectively use the new systems.
"One of the project elements will be the implementation of a special version of the Diia service for civil servants — Diia.Office, which will simplify administrative processes and improve interagency communication," the ministry added.
- In contrast to the growing Russia-North Korea alliance, Ukraine is strengthening cooperation with South Korea, particularly in defense industry.
