"Scenario similar to Kherson": Defense Express on Ukraine’s strikes on bridges in Kursk region
Valerii Riabykh, a military expert and development director of the media and consulting company Defense Express, has told what the possible destruction of the third bridge over the Seim River in Kursk region by the Ukrainian forces could lead to
He expressed this opinion on the Espreso TV channel.
‘Strikes on bridges across the Seim River may now cover a new area if the destruction of the third and last bridge across the Seim River in this area is confirmed by the Defense Forces. This is the area of the village of Karish. And I want to remind you that before that, a bridge was destroyed near Glushkovo, near Zvannoye, and now the third bridge, which completely blocks the enemy's base area, which is limited on four sides and, in fact, we can talk about a kind of certain operational encirclement. The control of the crossings over the Seim River to it in this area closes the last opportunity for the enemy to provide normal logistics for the troops defending this area,’ he said.
Valerii Riabykh noted that if the third bridge over the Seim is destroyed, the Russians will have to repeat their actions in Kherson region, when they had to flee across the Dnipro.
‘This area is bounded on two sides by the Seim River, on the third side by the state border, where our border guards are on duty, and on the fourth side, it is the east, with the success of our troops in the area of Snagost and Komarovka, that closes this area. This creates a situation where the enemy will have to make a difficult decision and gradually do the same thing as it did in the Kherson region when it was forced to withdraw beyond the Dnipro. And here, the situation is the same for the enemy. This area covers an area of about 700 kilometres, which our forces are already controlling remotely,’ the expert added.
- On Saturday, August 17, Ukrainian aviation destroyed the second Russian bridge in the Kursk sector. It is likely to be located in the village of Zvannoye, Glushkovsky district, Kursk region, Russia, and stretches across the Seim River.
