Russia’s upgraded airstrike weapons challenge Ukraine’s air defenses — Ukraine’s Air Force
Russia's modernization of airstrike capabilities complicates the work of Ukraine's air defense, including Western air defense systems
Yuriy Ihnat, head of the Communications Department of the Ukrainian Air Force Command, reported the information.
“Of course, during the war, Russia is modernizing its airstrike weapons (UAVs, cruise and ballistic missiles), which in turn complicates the work of our air defense, including Western systems,” Ihnat wrote.
According to him, this complicates the work of Ukraine’s air defense but does not make it impossible.
He also explained that the Patriot system is capable of engaging aerodynamic targets, such as aircraft and cruise missiles, at ranges of up to 150 kilometers. However, when it comes to ballistic missiles, its effective range is limited to several dozen kilometers.
“It’s impossible to protect large territories from ballistic threats, considering that we don’t have many Patriot systems,” he emphasized.
- Yuriy Ihnat, head of the Communications Department of the Ukrainian Air Force Command, reported that 5 Russian ballistic missiles hit targets in the Kyiv region.
