Drones target chemical plant in Russia’s Stavropol, forcing shutdown of eight airports

Rostov region

In the city of Novocherkassk, reports of a mass drone appearance and explosions have surfaced again. Locals heard loud noises and saw flashes in the sky.

Drone debris fell on Pishchanokopskaya station, damaging the contact network, a railway operator reported. No people were injured. According to the head of the Rostov region, Yuriy Slyusar, the attack damaged a building at the station.

This caused disruptions in the passenger train schedule. By 5 a.m., 10 passenger trains were delayed on their routes.

Krasnodar Krai

Regional authorities confirmed damage to private homes in the Temryuk and Slavyansky districts caused by falling drone debris.

In the village of Kurchanskaya, debris shattered windows in two houses. In Slavyansk-on-Kuban, windows were also damaged in one private home. Preliminary information indicates no casualties.

Due to falling drone debris in Timashevsk, 12 trains are delayed, Russian Railways reported.

Stavropol Krai

Residents of Nevinnomyssk reported explosions and a drone attack on a chemical plant.

Nevinnomyssky Azot is an ammonia and nitrogen fertilizer production facility, part of the EuroChem group. There is no official confirmation of the strike yet, but the city mayor reported 37 drone impacts with no casualties and no significant damage.

North Caucasus Federal District (NCFD)

The head of North Ossetia, Serhiy Menyaylo, announced the implementation of the "Cover" plan in the republic and other NCFD regions due to the threat of drone attacks.

Airport closures

Due to the drone situation, airports in Vladikavkaz, Grozny, Mineralnye Vody, Nalchik, Stavropol, Tambov, and Sochi are temporarily closed, Rosaviatsiya reported.

The Russian Ministry of Defense claims that during the past night, air defense forces allegedly destroyed and intercepted 105 aircraft-type drones over various regions of Russia.

According to the Russian agency, the drones were reportedly shot down as follows:

  • 26 drones over Belgorod region
  • 25 over Bryansk region
  • 23 over Rostov region
  • 9 over the Azov Sea area
  • 8 over Krasnodar Krai
  • 5 over Stavropol Krai
  • 3 each over Kursk and Tambov regions
  • 2 over Voronezh region
  • 1 over Oryol region

On July 24, Russia reported a drone attack on the Krasnodar region, claiming that an oil depot had been struck.
