Russia claims drone hit oil depot in Krasnodar

In the early hours of Thursday, July 24, Russia reported a drone attack on the Krasnodar region, claiming that an oil depot had been struck

The incident was announced by Dmitry Plishkin, head of the administration of the Sirius federal territory in Krasnodar. At 1:03 a.m., he reported the alleged activation of air defense systems.

“There was a hit on an oil depot on Tavriyskaya Street. Please refrain from driving or walking in that area,” read an update posted at 1:51 a.m.

As of 1:55 a.m., Plishkin said the threat of further UAV attacks remained.

On the morning of July 24, Russia's Ministry of Defense reported the alleged downing of dozens of drones overnight. According to a statement posted on its Telegram channel, Russian air defense forces claimed to have destroyed or intercepted 39 “Ukrainian aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicles,” including:

  • 21 over the Black Sea
  • 11 over the Sea of Azov
  • 7 over the Krasnodar Territory

Later that morning, the ministry said three additional drones were downed: two over temporarily occupied Crimea and one over the Belgorod region.

  • On the night of July 23, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced the alleged destruction of 51 drones over several regions. The railway infrastructure used by the Russian army could have been hit.
