Russian forces launch 31 attacks in Pokrovsk direction, most repelled by AFU

Since the start of January 16, 89 battles have taken place on the frontline. Russian troops attempted 31 attacks on Ukrainian forces in the Pokrovsk direction. This was reported by General Staff.

Situation in key frontline sectors 

In Kupyansk direction, Russia launched three assaults near Petropavlivka and Pishchane.

In Lyman direction, Russian forces attacked nine times near Kopanky, Novosergiyivka, Hrekivka, Novoplatonivka, Terny, and Zarichne. Three clashes continue.

In Siversk direction, Ukrainian forces repelled three attacks, with one ongoing. Positions near Verkhniokamianske and Ivano-Darivka were attacked. Siversk was hit by enemy aviation.

In Kramatorsk direction, six attacks occurred near Chasiv Yar, Bila Hora, and Hryhorivka.

In Toretsk direction, eight assaults happened near Toretsk, Krymske, Leonidivka, and Shcherbynivka. Two were repelled, and fighting continues.

In Pokrovsk direction, Russian forces attempted to push Ukrainian defenders out of positions in 16 areas, including Vodyane Druhe, Zelenye Pole, Promin, and Yantarne. Thirty assaults were repelled, with one ongoing.

In Novopavlivka direction, the enemy attacked ten times near Velyka Novosilka, Vremivka, and Kostyantynopol. Ukrainian forces repelled three assaults.

In Orikhiv direction, one enemy assault was launched near Novodanilivka.

In Prydniprovskyi direction, Russian army made one unsuccessful attack.

In Kursk region, eight attacks were repelled, with three ongoing. The enemy fired 250 artillery rounds, including one MLRS salvo.

In Kharkiv and Huliaipole sectors, no active enemy actions were reported since the day began.

• On January 15, 124 battles were recorded. Ukrainian defenders stopped 56 assaults in the Pokrovsk direction.
