The editor-in-chief of the Kherson-based media Kavun.City, Yevheniya Virlych, stated that the Russians often cut off electricity and communication when moving equipment from occupied Crimea to the Dnipro shores

She shared the information on Espreso TV.

"Intense fighting continues on the left bank of the Dnipro. The military reports that the Russians have not abandoned their hopes of storming the right bank of the Dnipro. The residents of Kherson can hear it. So can the residents of all the settlements along the Dnipro," said Virlych.

According to the journalist, the Russians constantly attempt to transport equipment and other resources from occupied Crimea closer to the Dnipro shore.

"Very often, in the temporarily occupied territories of the left bank of the Dnipro, the Russians cut off electricity and communication. This happens in Kakhovka, Nova Kakhovka, Zaliznyi Port, Skadovsk, and has been happening for a long time in Hola Prystan and Oleshky. In these cases, the occupiers are actively moving equipment toward the Dnipro line, most likely from occupied Crimea. These blackouts are not only for this reason but also due to their inaction, as they often fail to repair power lines for long periods. However, one of the main reasons is the relocation of equipment and resources closer to the Dnipro," she added.

  • Russian forces continue attempts to establish themselves in the island zone at the mouth of the Dnipro River.
  • As of January 28, approximately 145,000 people remain in the territory of the right-bank Kherson region, compared to nearly 500,000 Ukrainians before Russia's full-scale invasion.
