Russian troops press from four directions in strategic push for Chasiv Yar — military expert
Serhiy Zgurets, a military expert and CEO of the media and consulting company Defense Express, believes Russia plans to penetrate Chasiv Yar from the north
He shared his opinions with Espreso TV.
“The frontline area around Chasiv Yar is no less difficult than the others. Chasiv Yar has been out of the media spotlight for a long time. Currently, the Russians are trying to put pressure on Chasiv Yar from at least four directions. These are frontal attacks on the town itself,” noted Zgurets.
According to the military expert, in some areas the Russian forces have crossed the Siverskyi Donets Canal, trying to amass forces beyond the canal, which is an obstacle to the Russian actions.
“But the [Ukrainian] military say they have enough ammunition for large-caliber artillery. Sometimes the weather affects the use of FPV drones,” emphasized Zgurets.
The military expert added that the occupying Russian army plans to advance into one of the western neighborhoods of Chasiv Yar to establish a northern insertion into the city, but these movements are still being assessed.
“Systematic combat actions are currently underway to prevent the Russians from advancing to these areas, specifically to the town from the Siverskyi Donets-Donbas canal area to the northern outskirts of Chasiv Yar,” explained Zgurets.
Serhiy Tsehotskyi, an officer with the 59th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade named after Yakiv Handziuk, said that Russian troops are trying to outflank Pokrovsk.
Oleksandr Borodin, a spokesman for the 3rd Brigade, noted that in the Kharkiv direction, Russian troops launch hundreds of drones daily in one section of the frontline alone.
