Russia has built powerful drone production system - Ukraine's 3rd Brigade
Oleksandr Borodin, spokesman for Ukraine's 3rd Brigade, notes that in the Kharkiv direction, Russian troops launch hundreds of drones daily in just one section of the frontline
He shared the information on Espreso TV.
“We have been in the Kharkiv direction for a long time. We have been conducting defensive actions, although we have also conducted assault operations over the past month, which involved retaking positions and taking captives. The Russians are trying to advance, the situation is under control, but quite complicated due to the large number of FPV drones on the Russian side. The Russians have indeed built a quite robust drone production system,” Borodin said.
According to a spokesperson for the 3rd Separate Brigade, following the active phases of the Kursk operation, Russia deployed powerful mechanized units for the offensive. However, they have now reduced the intensity of their use of mechanized units and are relying more on infantry. This shift is likely due to the substantial destruction of Russian equipment by Ukrainian Defense Forces during this period, primarily aided by FPV drones.
“In the area of responsibility of one brigade, the number of drones launched by the Russians per day is already in the hundreds. And this is only in the area of responsibility of one brigade, not to mention the entire front. That is why electronic warfare (EW) is an extremely important component,” Borodin added.
The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) writes that the occupying Russian army has modernized Shahed-136 attack drones. Now they can reach higher altitudes and higher speeds.
