Russian army regroups, tries to advance deeper into Kharkiv region
Despite the decline in activity at the frontline in the Kharkiv region, Russian troops are regrouping and trying to advance
Oleh Syniehubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration, stated this during a telethon.
"Despite a relative decrease in activity on the front line, Russians continue to regroup and attempt to advance deeper into the region. Vovchansk - there is fighting. Synkivka and Andriivka are under constant assault. Shelling does not stop either," he said.
He informed that the Russian forces have once again destroyed the civilian transport crossing in Staryi Saltiv, and now it is being restored.
According to the head of the regional state administration, some settlements in the Kupyansk direction have already been depopulated due to the actions of the invaders, and the enemy is also destroying part of Vovchansk and other settlements using the scorched earth tactic.
In particular, the spokesman for the Khortytsia group of forces, Nazar Voloshyn, said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are keeping most of Vovchansk under their control.
"As for the city of Vovchansk, most of the city is under the control of the Ukrainian Defence Forces. They are keeping the enemy under fire control and inflicting maximum losses on them. We are trying to move forward to liberate all our territories," he said.
He added that 7 firefights took place in the north of Kharkiv region over the past day, and today, June 8, a firefight also started at night near the town of Vovchansk, and as of the morning it was still ongoing.
According to Voloshyn, the Russian army is dropping guided aerial bombs several times a day on the north Kharkiv region.
- The Russian army is trying to attack the Ukrainian positions in the south and east. For example, the Russian troops are advancing in the Donetsk region, while the Ukrainian Armed Forces are holding the line in the Kharkiv sector.
