Top U.S., Russian generals spoke by phone following Oreshnik strike
The Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, Valery Gerasimov, called the Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, Charles Brown. The conversation took place six days after Russia launched Oreshnik missile against Ukraine
The New York Times reported the information.
The conversation reportedly took place on November 27, a day before Thanksgiving in the United States, and six days after Russia launched a new medium-range ballistic missile, Oreshnik, against Ukraine.
During the call, Gerasimov claimed that the missile launch had allegedly been planned long before the Biden administration authorized Ukraine to use American weapons for strikes deep into Russia.
In response to a journalist's inquiry, Brown's press secretary, Captain Jereal Dorsey, stated that "at the request of General Gerasimov, General Brown agreed to not proactively announce the call." He also noted that Gerasimov and Brown "discussed a number of global and regional security issues, to include the ongoing conflict in Ukraine."
