Russian tanker calls at Mariupol port for first time since occupation
The first Russian tanker has entered the port of Mariupol since the beginning of the Russian occupation of the city in spring 2022
This was reported by the advisor to the mayor of Mariupol, Petro Andriushchenko.
He noted that the purpose of such actions by the Russians is to bring in diesel fuel.
"This is the first tanker in the port since the beginning of the occupation. There is no doubt as to the purpose of the diesel fuel import - a river-sea vessel has stopped at the pilot station to load bulk cargo," he said.
The mayor's advisor noted that one such tanker could supply the frontline for 2-3 days, given the fuel convoys. At the same time, he believes that the presence of the enemy tanker is connected with Russia's full-scale preparations to launch a railway to the port.
"This diesel fuel will definitely not be used to fuel tractors and combines. It's either for long-distance diesel locomotives or for their armored cargo. There are no options," Andriushchenko added.
- On June 14, it was reported that the invading Russian troops built their logistics base near civilian residential buildings in the temporarily occupied Mariupol. Thus, the enemy seeks to use people as human shields.
