
Russian strikes in Sumy region kill 3, leave several injured during May 9 'truce'
Despite the promised ‘ceasefire’ by the Russian leader, Russian forces actively shelled the Sumy region. From the morning of May 9 to the morning of May 10, the Russians launched over 150 attacks on 32 settlements in 15 territorial communities of the region
The Sumy Regional Military Administration reported the information.
As a result of these strikes, three civilians were killed: a local woman born in 1961 was killed by a guided bomb strike in the Richkivska community, a pensioner born in 1940 in the Novoslobidska community, and a man born in 1967 in the Bilopilska community.
Additionally, four people were injured: one in the Shostka and Buryn communities, and two in the Novoslobidska community.
The air raid alert in the region lasted for 12 hours and 30 minutes. Most attacks were recorded in Sumy, Shostka, and Konotop districts.
The Russians actively used various types of weapons, including:
- nearly 70 guided aerial bombs;
- 20 FPV drone attacks;
- nearly 20 explosive drops from UAVs;
- shelling with Smerch MLRS;
- rocket strikes from helicopters using unguided air-to-surface missiles (NAR).
Civilian infrastructure was damaged and destroyed:
- In Richkivska community: 6 private residential houses;
- In Shostkynska community: non-residential buildings;
- In Novoslobidska community: private houses and a civilian infrastructure facility;
- In Bilopilska community: a store, 17 private houses, 10 outbuildings, and infrastructure facilities;
- In Druzhbivska community: a civilian infrastructure facility.
Over the past day, 144 people were evacuated from border communities by local authorities in cooperation with the State Emergency Service, National Police, and NGOs.
- On May 8, during the so-called ceasefire, the Russian army carried out strikes on the territories of Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia regions. As a result of the attacks, there were killed and injured.
