Russian officers are hiding in rear, avoiding front – intelligence
Ukrainian intelligence reports mass reassignments of Russian officers to rear units without legal basis, citing fear of death and demoralization
According to the Ukrainian intelligence's report, Russian officers are avoiding frontline service in large numbers.
"Over 45% of officers in the Russian Armed Forces who are part of reserve units in the Southern Military District have no legal grounds for serving in the rear."
Documents signed by Lieutenant General Mikhail Zusko, Chief of Staff of the Russian Southern Military District, reveal the unjustified reassignment of over 900 officers to rear units. Among them, at least 200 were appointed despite the units already being fully staffed.
There are also cases of these "reservists" abandoning their duties without authorization.
Main Intelligence Directorate notes that the mass flight of Russian officers from the front, disguised as official transfers to the rear, indicates a state of demoralization and crisis within Russia’s command structure:
"Fully aware of the scale of losses and the inevitability of their own death, officers of the aggressor state are doing everything possible to avoid participating in combat operations."
