Russian forces storm Ukrainian positions in 9 directions, mostly in Pokrovsk - Ukraine's General Staff

The Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff reported this at 8:00 a.m. on August 22.

A total of 134 combat clashes took place over the last day.

According to the updated information, yesterday Russia launched five missile attacks on the Ukrainian positions and populated areas using seven missiles, as well as 99 air strikes, including 122 guided bombs. In addition, it carried out 4,498 attacks, including 145 from multiple launch rocket systems.

Russia carried out air strikes, targeting 17 settlements across Ukraine.

Frontline update 

In the Kharkiv sector, six combat clashes took place near Vovchansk and Lyptsi.

In the Kupyansk sector, 16 Russian attacks took place over the last day. Ukraine's Defense Forces repelled Russian assaults near Petropavlivka, Synkivka, Stelmakhivka, Berestove, and near Andriivka.

In the Lyman sector, the Russian army attacked 19 times. It tried to advance near Torske, Novoserhiivka, Makiivka, Hrekivka, and Serhiivka.

In the Siversk sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled one Russian assault near Spirne.

In the Kramatorsk sector, the invading Russian forces attacked eight times near Hryhorivka, Chasiv Yar, and Predtechene. The situation is under control.

In the Toretsk sector, the Russian troops, supported by aviation, carried out 13 attacks near Pivnichne, Toretsk, and Zalizne.

In the Pokrovsk sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled 53 assault and offensive attacks towards the settlements of Panteleimonivka, Vozdvyzhenka, Zelene Pole, Myroliubivka, Hrodivka, Mykolaivka, Novohrodivka, Mykhailivka, and Ptyche. The highest concentration of Russian attacks was near Novohrodivka and Mykhailivka.

In the Kurakhove sector, Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled 16 attacks in the direction of Heorhiivka, Kostiantynivka, and Pobieda.

The invading Russian forces tried to advance towards Vodiane in the Vremivka sector twice.

Russia has somewhat reduced its activity in the Huliaipole, Orikhiv, and Kherson directions, did not conduct any offensive actions over the past day, but continues to destroy the civilian infrastructure by all available means.

On the border with Belarus, no signs of Russian offensive groups were detected.

Ukrainian forces destroy two Russian command posts and 3 artillery pieces

Yesterday, Ukraine's aviation, missile forces and artillery conducted 17 strikes on the Russian weapons concentrations, destroying two command posts, three artillery units, a pontoon crossing, three air defense facilities, and an electronic warfare station.

The Ukrainian Defense Forces continue operations in the Kursk sector.

  • There were 153 combat clashes at the front over the last day. Russian troops are conducting offensive operations in 11 key areas in an attempt to improve their tactical position. The Ukrainian Armed Forces are actively repelling Russian attacks.
