Russia moves to link occupied Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant to its power grid
Russian forces are continuing to build power transmission lines from the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, including through the Mariupol district
That’s according to Petro Andriushchenko, head of the Center for the Study of Occupation.
He stated that based on Russia’s broader plans—particularly the likely modernization of occupied parts of Kherson region—“it appears that if Zaporizhzhia NPP isn’t already connected to Russia’s energy system, it’s only a matter of weeks.”
“Once again, unfortunately, we must emphasize the Ukrainian government and media space are completely ignoring this process. And that silence is exactly what allows Russia to continue these actions without consequences,” Andriushchenko said.
He also noted that in one section, the occupying Russian forces built a pipeline distribution hub and compressor station between February and May. In another, they are finishing the connection to the grid.
“On the ground, it looks like the final stage of the work,” he added.
