Russian artillery pounds Kupiansk sector despite "Easter truce" — Ukrainian officer
Yurii Fedorenko, commander of Ukraine's 429th Separate Drone Systems Regiment Achilles, stated that the Easter "truce" is Russia's attempt to regroup
He shared the information on Espreso TV.
"Russia has not abandoned its intentions to carry out its objectives in Ukraine. During the so-called 'truce' declared by Putin, the Russians continued moving personnel and equipment to concentrate forces at certain positions. Russian occupiers’ artillery kept actively firing on Ukrainian settlements in frontline areas, as well as on positions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces. Russian reconnaissance and tactical-level strike drones remained in the air. We must understand that this Easter 'truce' is nothing more than a Russian attempt to regroup," noted Yurii Fedorenko.
According to him, Putin’s main objective remains unchanged – to talk about peace and ceasefires, buy time, carry out his plans in Ukraine, and at the same time lift sanctions on Russia that are blocking the full-scale deployment of military operations against Ukraine.
"The Russians are trying to approach the front line in pairs or small groups to build up forces and then regroup for an attempted push to dislodge the Ukrainian Defense Forces from their positions. Russian troops also tried to bring in engineering equipment, particularly in relation to their intentions to force the Oskil River. Of course, Russian logistics have been making every effort to resupply ammunition for artillery and other strike centers targeting Ukrainian defenders’ positions," commented the commander of the 429th Separate Drone Systems Regiment Achilles.
- On April 21, a report from the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces stated that on April 20, fighting continued on the Russian-Ukrainian front, despite the “Easter truce” pledged by Putin. Russian troops are most actively attacking in the Pokrovsk sector.
