Russian army storms Ukrainian positions 47 times in 7 directions - General Staff

Russian attacks across Ukraine

"Over the last day, Russia launched 7 missile strikes, 65 airstrikes, and 59 attacks with multiple launch rocket systems at the Ukrainian troops’ positions and populated areas. Unfortunately, Russian terrorist attacks resulted in civilian casualties. Private and apartment buildings and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed and damaged," the statement says.

Frontline situation

Near the state Ukrainian border with Russia and Belarus, the situation hasn't changed significantly, and no enemy offensive groups have been detected. Certain units of the Belarusian Armed Forces are performing tasks in the areas bordering Ukraine.

At the same time, the Russian army continued shelling the entire borderline with mortars and artillery: over 40 settlements across the Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions were attacked. 

In the Kupyansk sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled 7 attacks near Synkivka, Kharkiv region, where the Russian troops tried to break through the Ukrainian defense. About 15 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Lyman sector, Ukrainian troops repelled 9 Russian attacks near Terny, Yampolivka and Torske in the Donetsk region, where the Russian army, supported by air power, tried to break through the Ukrainian forces’ defense without success. About 15 settlements were shelled with artillery and mortars.

In the Bakhmut sector, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 4 enemy attacks near Ivanivske, Klishchiivka and Andriivka in the  Donetsk region, where the Russians tried to improve the tactical situation to no avail. More than 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Avdiivka sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled 8 attacks near Avdiivka and another 6 attacks near Pervomaiske and Nevelske in the Donetsk region. Over 15 localities came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Marinka sector, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to hold back the Russian army near Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region. About 5 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Shakhtarsk sector, Russia did not conduct any assault operations. It launched airstrikes near the settlements of Vodiane, Urozhaine and Staromaiorske in the Donetsk region. About 10 more localities came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Zaporizhzhia sector, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled four Russian attacks north of Pryiutne and Robotyne. About 20 settlements were subjected to artillery and mortar attacks.

In the Kherson sector, Kherson and Ochakiv, Mykolaiv region, came under enemy artillery fire.

Russia doesn't abandon its intention to drive Ukrainian units from their footholds on the left bank of the Dnipro River. Thus, 3 unsuccessful attempts to storm the Ukrainian positions were made during the day.

Ukrainian strikes against Russian military targets

Over the day, Ukrainian aviation struck 14 military positions and an enemy anti-aircraft missile system. The Ukrainian Air Defense Forces also destroyed one Kh-59 guided missile.

Missile troops struck at 5 artillery units and 4 air defense systems.

• Over the past day, 88 combat engagements took place at the front. Ukrainian forces repelled enemy attacks in 6 sectors and killed 1,090 soldiers.
