Russian army keeps trying to enter Toretsk - Ukrainian fighter Iievliev

"The unit continues to perform combat missions in the Horlivka sector, now known as Toretsk. On the outskirts of Toretsk, the Russian assault actions continue. Despite the fact that the Ukrainian Defense Forces were able to stop them near the city, the Russian troops did not give up trying to break through our positions. In some places our troops were forced to retreat," noted Iievliev.

According to the Ukrainian Armed Forces serviceman, the Russian army is not giving up trying to enter Toretsk. The unit is holding the defense on the outskirts of New York and Toretsk. Assault operations continue, but the Ukrainian Defense Forces are repelling Russian attacks. The situation remains extremely difficult. The personnel are exhausted, sometimes lacking ammunition, and Russia is pressing from all sides.

"The tactical situation changed somewhat and did not go according to plan. We mined one area in front of us, but the enemy broke through our flank and went around the other side. This forced us to quickly reorient. It was more of a military improvisation than a prepared tactical defense," Iievliev emphasized.

• Over the past day, on September 2, 197 combat engagements took place at the front. Russian troops were most active in the Pokrovsk, Kurakhove, and Vremivka directions.
