Russia probing in Zaporizhzhia direction, eyeing advance toward Velyka Novosilka — military expert
Serhiy Zgurets, a military expert and CEO of the Defense Express media and consulting company, notes that hostilities have intensified from Vuhledar throughout the Zaporizhzhia direction
He shared his opinions with Espreso TV.
"The Russians are currently attempting to breach Ukrainian defenses in several directions. According to reports from DeepState OSINT project and Ukraine's General Staff, the Russians are trying to advance near Chasiv Yar, in the Lyman direction, and are also acting from the captured Vuhledar. In terms of Vuhledar, we know there are two main directions: advancing towards Kurakhove and westward towards Zolota Nyva. At present, in the Zaporizhzhia direction, where Vuhledar serves as a strategic point for both the Donbas and Zaporizhzhia fronts, fighting has intensified," noted the military expert.
According to him, there is still no comprehensive information indicating significant Russian advancement on the Zaporizhzhia front. However, there are mentions of settlements where conditions could facilitate Russian movement towards Velyka Novosilka.
"We should remember that a significant number of the invader's forces were redeployed from the Zaporizhzhia direction to the Kursk region, so the Russian actions may be probing. At this point, it is difficult to draw conclusions about what is actually happening and whether the enemy is truly accumulating forces there. I reiterate that capturing Velyka Novosilka could be the next objective for the Russian forces," summarized Serhiy Zgurets.
- On October 14, the Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff reported that 161 combat clashes took place on the Russian-Ukrainian front yesterday. Russian troops were active on the Kurakhove, Pokrovsk and Kupyansk directions.
