Budanov said this in an interview with The Washington Post.
In fact, Budanov said that in June, the Russians will try to seize more territory in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, and after that they will focus on the US presidential election.
"Before the inauguration of your (US - ed.) president, they will try to get as much territory as possible in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions," Budanov said.
The publication suggests that the Russians may be counting on Donald Trump's victory and his ratification of this “achievement.”
- On April 7, Kyrylo Budanov said that Russia could launch a new large-scale offensive in late spring or early summer, and that Pokrovsk was a strategic direction for the Russians.
- On April 18, the Main Intelligence Directorate had developed a plan to reduce Russia's warfighting capabilities, which "covers many aspects," including operations on Russian territory.
