Russia will focus on Pokrovsk after capturing Kurakhove — military expert
Pavlo Lakiychuk, head of security programs at the Center for Global Studies Strategy XXI, believes that if the Russians take Kurakhove, they could shift all their forces to capture Pokrovsk, allowing them to target the rear of Toretsk and Chasiv Yar
He shared his opinions with Espreso TV.
"If the Russians take Kurakhove, it will straighten their front line, and they’ll likely focus all their forces on Pokrovsk," Lakiychuk said. "They won’t be able to send troops to Zaporizhzhia or other areas. Once their southern flank is secure, they’ll focus on Pokrovsk. If they capture it, they’ll strengthen their position and move north, targeting the rear of Toretsk, Chasiv Yar, and maybe Kostiantynivka. But they still need to reach that point. With the high losses they’re facing, they may not have enough resources to keep going."
Lakiychuk noted that Russian losses are rising sharply, which could slow their offensive.
"Russian generals may think they have enough personnel to conduct offensive operations, but with such losses, their plans could be destroyed," he added.
- According to a report by the OSINT platform DeepState on December 1, Russian forces continue their assault on Kurakhove from multiple directions, making notable advances within the city.
